Job summary

Altasciences is seeking a Research Associate I to perform procedures on laboratory animals, collect specimens and data, and support study supervisors under GLP standards. You will follow SOPs, maintain accurate records, and operate lab equipment across multiple species in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a high school diploma (BA/BS preferred), experience with animals, and solid computer skills (MS Office, Project, InfoPath, Access).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; BA/BS in a scientific discipline preferred.
• Experience with animals in research or regulated environments is preferred.
• ALAT certification is preferred.
• Intermediate computer experience including Microsoft Office suite, Project, Info Path and Access.
• English proficiency to read and interpret industry documents and write routine reports.

Responsibilities

• Follow SOPs and protocols to perform procedures on study and stock animals.
• Record, enter and review raw data, study and facility records.
• Set up for procedures and maintain ancillaries on study animals.
• Operate selected laboratory equipment (e.g., glucometer, Harvard pump, digital thermometer).
• Monitor and report changes in animal health and room conditions to staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
• Review and provide input on SOPs related to animals and procedures.
• Perform husbandry duties.
