Job summary

Pipestone is seeking an Animal Care Technician to work hands-on with pigs in our modern swine facility. You will support animal health, welfare and daily farm operations, with training provided for all required tasks.

Responsibilities include monitoring health, feeding, breeding support, and maintaining records. This role involves exposure to live animals and requires flexibility in hours, including potential weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• No experience required; training provided.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to animal welfare, safety and biosecurity.
• Experience with live animals in close quarters is common in swine facilities.

Responsibilities

• Learn and monitor pig health and well-being while providing daily animal care.
• Ensure pigs have access to feed, water, clean air, and a comfortable environment.
• Assist with breeding, gestation, farrowing and piglet care as needed.
• Follow production protocols to maximize sow and gilt production and efficiencies.
• Administer vaccinations, medications, and health treatments as directed.
• Monitor feed intake and adjust feeding programs as necessary.
• Observe animal behavior and report concerns promptly to management.
• Maintain clean facilities and equipment used in swine production.
• Record animal health data accurately and timely.
