Job summary

Christensen Farms in Minnesota is seeking an Animal Care Technician to support Farrowing and Breeding operations. This hands-on role ensures the daily care and well-being of our swine herd, adhering to biosecurity and safety protocols.

We offer a $2,500 sign-on bonus for eligible new hires, with a full-time schedule typically Monday–Friday. The ideal candidate is reliable, physically capable, and detail-oriented, ready to contribute to a leading livestock operation.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow established protocols and SOPs with attention to detail.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to support a safe, efficient barn environment.
• Physical readiness to perform demanding barn tasks over long shifts.
• Willingness to learn and grow within the livestock industry through hands-on training.

Responsibilities

• Provide feed and water to the animals daily to maintain health and nutrition.
• Heat checking and breeding sows in heat per daily schedule; induce gilt heat as per protocols.
• Process piglets by castrating, tail docking, and administering iron/antibiotics.
• Assist with farrowing and litter care; ensure piglet warmth.
• Monitor sows and litters daily; identify health issues and provide treatments.
• Maintain sanitation through cleaning, disinfecting, pit draining; manage animal movements and keep records with biosecurity in mind.
