Job summary

CARE STL is seeking an Adoption & Foster Coordinator to connect homeless pets with loving families. The role emphasizes compassionate customer service, organization, and teamwork in a fast-paced shelter environment.

Full-time positions are available, with weekend part-time options. You will help adopters, support foster families, maintain records, and assist with daily animal care while upholding Fear Free Shelter standards during onboarding.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stay active.
• Spanish-speaking applicants are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Help adopters find the right pet for their family.
• Support foster families and coordinate foster placements.
• Respond to adoption, foster, and lost pet inquiries by phone, email, and in person.
• Facilitate meet-and-greets between adopters and animals.
• Provide guidance and resources to community members.
• Process adoptions, foster placements, and other shelter services.
• Maintain accurate animal records in the shelter database.
• Monitor shelter capacity and assist with daily reports.
• Work alongside teammates to support lifesaving efforts throughout the shelter.
• Assist with daily animal care, including walking dogs, feeding animals, cleaning kennels, and providing enrichment.

We’re looking for a compassionate, organized, and people-oriented Adoption & Foster Coordinators to help connect homeless pets with fosters and loving families. What You’ll Do:

• Helping adopters find the right pet for their family
• Supporting foster families and coordinating foster placements
• Responding to adoption, foster, and lost pet inquiries by phone, email, and in person
• Facilitating meet-and-greets between adopters and animals
• Providing guidance and resources to community members
• Processing adoptions, foster placements, and other shelter services
• Maintaining accurate animal records in the shelter database
