Qualifications

  • Requires MD/DO or equivalent and completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency.
  • ABA certification or eligibility and licensure in North Carolina are required or anticipated.
  • Experience teaching residents and collaborating with CAAs/CRNAs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The physician will be a faculty member engaged in patient care and resident education.
  • Provide anesthetic care across UNC Hospitals and affiliated centers and participate in scholarly activity.

Position Summary The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Department of Anesthesiology is searching for a General Anesthesiologist (open rank) committed to patient care and Resident education. UNC Hospitals are located on the main campus of UNC Chapel Hill and provide full-service tertiary and quaternary care in a rich academic environment. The department also provides anesthetic care at several community hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers. The physician will be a member of the faculty practice and there are opportunities for scholarly contribution and development.


Minimum Education And Experience Requirements Requires a medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent). Must have completed an ACGME accredited Anesthesiology Residency program (by the anticipated start date) and be ABA certified or eligible. Candidates must be eligible for licensure in North Carolina.


Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience Preference for individuals who have experience working in an academic setting, teaching graduate level learners (interns, residents, fellows), working in a team which includes CAAs/CRNAs and collaborating with other services. Experience in general, regional, uncomplicated pediatrics and obstetric anesthesiology skills are an asset.
