Job description

Anesthesiologists at Boston Medical Center ensure patient safety and well-being throughout surgery by providing individualized anesthesia plans, monitoring vital signs, and responding to critical situations. They will collaborate with the surgical team and participate in quality improvement initiatives while staying current on the latest advancements in anesthesia, pain management, and critical care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthetic assessments and develop individualized anesthetic plans for a diverse patient population.

• Administer general, regional, and local anesthesia for a variety of surgical procedures, including complex and high-risk surgeries.

• Monitor patients' vital signs and physiological functions during surgery, ensuring their safety and well-being.

• Respond effectively to critical situations and manage potential complications during surgery.

• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, surgical staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

• Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives within the Anesthesia Department and beyond.

• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in anesthesia practice through continuing medical education.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school or osteopathic medical school

Board certification in Anesthesiology or in the process of board certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).

Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in advanced airway management techniques.

Ability to prioritize effectively and work well under pressure.

Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Passionate about patient care and committed to providing high-quality anesthesia services.

Strong work ethic and a commitment to continuous learning.

Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.

Ability to remain calm and collected in high-pressure situations.

Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Compassionate and empathetic towards patients and their families.
