BluePearl Pet Hospital in Charlestown, MA is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Technician to support an anesthesiology specialty. The role involves working with our board-certified anesthesiologist on a busy routine and emergency caseload, ensuring anesthesia safety, pain management, and high-quality patient care throughout pre-op, intra-op, and recovery phases.

Ideal candidates have veterinary technician experience with anesthesia and monitoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient procedures using anesthesia and analgesia protocols.
• Monitor anesthesia and troubleshoot complications with appropriate interventions.
• Place IV catheters and manage endotracheal intubation and equipment.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vital signs and patient status.
• Maintain and operate IV fluid pumps and CRIs.
• Support anesthesia cases from pre-op to recovery and post-op.
• Manage records, invoicing, and patient discharge documentation.

BluePearl Pet Hospital - Charlestown, MA is seeking a compassionate and experienced Veterinary Technician to work alongside our board-certified Anesthesiologist.

Schedule: Weekdays, 4x10 hour shifts, some on-call expectations

Pay: $24.50 - $49.00 / hour

_ This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience._

As an Anesthesia Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Assistin patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, andmake appropriate interventions.
• Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rateand effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluidsand CRI’s.
• Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals,difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Comfortable with medical math.
• Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery)
• Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
• Disconnect and connect patientsfrom intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload
