BluePearl Pet Hospital in Texas seeks an Anesthesia Veterinary Technician to join our team. You will assist in anesthesia planning, monitor patients, manage IV catheters, and support pre-op through recovery under the supervision of veterinarians.

Responsibilities

• Assist in anesthesia protocols and formulate plans for individual patients.
• Monitor anesthesia and intervene for complications.
• Place IV catheters and manage IV fluids/CRI.
• Perform physical exams and record vitals accurately.
• Operate IV fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Coordinate care from pre-op to post-op and recovery.
• Assist with patient histories, invoicing, and discharges.

As an Anesthesia Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions .
• Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance .
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids and CRI's.
• Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Comfortable with medical math .
• Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery)
• Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
• Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
