Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Cary, NC is hiring an Anesthesia Veterinary Technician to support surgical cases with anesthesia planning, monitoring, and post‑operative care. The role emphasizes precision, patient safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced veterinary environment.

You will perform IV catheter placement, monitor anesthesia, assist with intubation, and manage fluids and pain control, with opportunities to advance through our competency leveling system and ongoing education.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient procedures with anesthesia and analgesia plans.
• Monitor anesthesia, troubleshoot complications, and intervene.
• Place IV catheters and manage intubation and equipment.
• Perform physical exams and monitor vital signs.
• Pre-op to post-op patient care and recovery.
• Manage records, invoicing, and client communications.
• Operate IV fluid pumps and monitor fluid therapy.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an Anesthesia Veterinary Technician!

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

As An Anesthesia Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
• Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids and CRI’s.
• Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Comfortable with medical math.
• Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery)
• Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
• Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
