UH: Anesthesiology-LLU Medical Center- Full-Time, Night Shifts - TEMPORARY POSITION
Job Summary: The Anesthesia Technician works under the supervision of a licensed anesthesia provider and is an integral part of the anesthesia care team. The technician assists in clinical settings where anesthesia is administered, performing duties in accordance with standards set by the American Society of Anesthesiology Technologists and Technicians (ASATT). Responsibilities include setting up anesthesia equipment using sterile techniques, assisting during procedures, managing supplies, maintaining and inspecting equipment, and ensuring readiness of anesthesia carts and rooms. The technician collaborates closely with anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, operating room staff, and leadership. May participate in on-call schedules based on operational needs. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. At least two years of experience as an anesthesia technician or related roles such as Certified Nurses Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of practice standards per ASATT, infection control protocols, OSHA guidelines, and standards from AORN and AAMI. Demonstrates professional behavior, effective time management, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Continually seeks to expand knowledge of anesthesia equipment and supplies. Skills include reading and writing in English (Spanish preferred), computer proficiency, troubleshooting equipment, effective communication, critical thinking, independent work ability, basic math skills, workload management, and attention to detail. Ability to distinguish colors and smells, hear adequately, see clearly, and discern temperature variances is essential.
Licensures and Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association required. ASATT certification preferred.
