Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to support safe, efficient care. You will clean and maintain anesthesia equipment, assist providers during procedures, and ensure machines and carts are prepared for use. The shift is Monday–Friday evenings, 2pm–10:30pm, with opportunities to contribute to OR turnover.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED. Prior experience in anesthesia support is preferred.

• Collaborate with perioperative team to support OR turnover.
• Assist with airway equipment such as video laryngoscope and intubation carts.
• Prepare age-appropriate anesthesia equipment, monitors, and airway support.

Job description

Position Summary

This Anesthesia Technician position supports the safe and efficient care of patients receiving anesthesia. Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining anesthesia equipment, assisting anesthesia providers during procedures, and ensuring proper preparation of anesthesia machines, carts, and specialized equipment.

Shift: Monday - Friday evenings from 2pm - 10:30pm.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean, maintain, and stock the anesthesia workroom and equipment in operating rooms and satellite anesthetizing locations
• Assist anesthesia providers in the safe and efficient care of patients receiving anesthesia
• Provide specialized equipment to support anesthesia staff when needed
• Prepare anesthesia machines and carts for use the following day
• Assemble and prepare intravenous (IV) solutions for anesthesia providers
• Collaborate with the perioperative team to support prompt OR turnover
• Assist with difficult airway management by providing necessary equipment (e.g., video laryngoscope, fiberoptic intubation cart)
• Prepare age-appropriate anesthesia equipment, monitors, and airway support

Education

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D. is required

Experience

• Experience in anesthesia support, Cardiology or EMT areas is preferred

Certification

• BLS certification within first 6 months
• Within 6 months, trained in infectious disease precautious to provide patient care to ID patient (ex. COVID, TB, etc.)

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
