Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to support anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in delivering anesthesia care within our operating suites.

You will prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment, ensure sterile conditions, and assist in patient monitoring before, during, and after procedures. The role includes varied shifts and a 0.8 FTE schedule, with an on-site environment and ongoing room turnover responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Eligibility for employment in the U.S.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Two-year degree from an accredited college or technical school is preferred.
• BLS certification is required upon hire.
• Previous experience in a hospital environment is required.
• Must possess a cell phone that interfaces with the organization’s secure message system.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and check equipment prior to procedures to ensure proper functioning.
• Stock and prepare medications, fluids, and anesthesia-related supplies.
• Assist during induction, spinals, maintenance, and emergencies.
• Maintain aseptic techniques when handling equipment.
• Monitor and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment and report malfunctions.
• Decontaminate and store reusable equipment after procedures.
• Move carts, machines, and monitoring equipment between rooms as needed.
• Track stock levels and rotate items to avoid expiration.
• Position patients safely for procedures and assist with anesthesia access.
• Provide immediate support during code situations and emergencies.
• Assist with cleanup and turnover of rooms between cases.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to call-ins.

The Anesthesia Technician will support anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in the delivery of anesthesia care. The technician will be responsible for preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment, and assisting in patient monitoring before, during, and after procedures.

Hours:

• .8 FTE - 32 Hours Per Week
• Varying Shifts

Essential Job Functions:

• Assemble and check all equipment and machines prior to procedures to ensure proper functioning
• Stock and prepare medications, fluids, and anesthesia-related supplies needed for procedures
• Assist anesthesiologist and nurse anesthetists during induction, spinals, maintenance, and emergent phase of anesthesia
• Ensure the maintenance of aseptic and sterile techniques when handling equipment and supplies
• Monitor equipment functionality, troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain anesthesia equipment and report malfunctions promptly
• Decontaminate, sterilize, and properly store reusable equipment and tools after procedures
• Move anesthesia carts, machines, and monitoring equipment to different operating rooms as needed
• Track supply levels, reorder items, and rotate stock to avoid expiration
• Support staff in properly positioning patients for procedures to ensure safety and optimal access for anesthesia deliver
• Provide immediate support during code situations or anesthesia-related emergencies by preparing necessary equipment
• Assist with cleanup of the anesthesia work area and turnover of rooms between cases

• Participate in the department’s on-call rotation and respond promptly to call-ins to ensure continuous patient care and surgical support as needed

• Promptly report and document any occurrences of unusual events, safety concerns, or incidents in accordance with organization policies and procedures
• Use the organization’s secure messaging platform in accordance with departmental protocols, including timely receipt and responses to communications
