Job summary

University of California - Los Angeles Health in Los Angeles is seeking an OR support professional. Under the OR Director and RN supervision, you will assist the anesthesiologist by preparing anesthesia equipment, setting up invasive monitoring lines, and enabling Laser and Video systems for procedures.

You will also set up other OR equipment, troubleshoot devices for staff, and perform clerical and coordinating duties as assigned by the RN Charge Nurse, following department protocols and safety

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• ASATT certification preferred.
• Competency with laser, video, endoscopy and monitoring equipment.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-stress environments.
• Lifts up to 50 lbs and prolonged standing.

Responsibilities

Description

Take on a prominent position in the Operating Room. Under the general direction of the OR Director and direct supervision of the Clinical Nurse Managers and the Anesthesia OR Clinical Supervisor; the incumbent is responsible for assisting the anesthesiologist in the preparation of equipment needed to administer anesthesia; setting up invasive lines for patient monitoring; performing cell saving procedures; setting up Laser and Video equipment and assisting in Laser procedures; setting up other OR equipment; trouble-sh-ting OR equipment for the clinical staff; and performing clerical and coordinating duties as assigned by the RN Charge Nurse. Job duties will be performed following department protocols and manufacturer's recommendations in operating equipment; adherence to established procedures based on anesthesiologist's preference in setting up invasive lines.

Hourly Salary: $42.48

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience preferred.


• BLS from American Heart Association or America Red Cross required.


• ASATT certification preferred.


• Competency in operating Laser, video, Endoscopy, other major OR and monitoring equipment.


• Ability to work in fast paced and stressful environment.


• Ability to prioritize own work to complete assigned task during shift.


• Knowledge of infection control and Health Surveillance, OSHA, Universal Precautions, Waste


• Management, Handling of hazardous substances and Medical Device Act.


• Knowledge of the Mission and Philosophy of SM-UCLA Medical Center.


• Knowledge of AORN and AAMI Standards specific to areas of responsibility.


• Ability to meet physical requirements of the job relating to lifting, carrying, pulling or pushing 50 lbs or more, extensive walking and standing and manual dexterity in operating equipment.
