Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to provide general assistance to anesthesia providers before, during, and after surgical procedures. You will support the anesthesia care team with cleaning and maintenance of equipment, stocking clinical sites, and ensuring safe supply chains.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and less than 1 year of experience, with knowledge of sterile techniques and HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year of experience.
• Ability to use critical thinking to triage tasks in high-stress situations.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and sterile techniques.
• Knowledge of patients' rights and HIPAA/privacy rules.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic laboratory point-of-care testing for arterial blood gas analysis, blood coagulation, serum glucose, electrolytes, and hemoglobin.
• Sets up supplies and assists in arterial lines, central lines, epidural catheters, and spinal anesthetics.
• Documents damaged equipment and reports equipment problems to the appropriate authority.
• Obtains blood and blood products and transfers lab specimens per policy.
• Acquires anesthesia equipment and supplies for surgical procedures and workrooms.
• Maintains and provides preventative maintenance on anesthesia equipment.
• Follows protocols for setup, maintenance, cleaning, and sterilization of equipment.
• Distributes used/dirty equipment for decontamination and sterilization.
• Transport anesthesia equipment and supply carts to off-site anesthetizing locations.
