Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, NM seeks an Anesthesia Technician to support the anesthesia care team across pre-, intra-, and post-procedure stages. You will prepare, troubleshoot, and maintain anesthesia machines and related equipment, assist with room setup, patient positioning, and supplies, and help ensure safety standards are met.

Ideal candidates have an ASATT certification or 1 year of anesthesia tech experience, BLS, and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

  • 1 year anesthesia tech experience in an operating room setting or certification-based equivalence.
  • ASATT certification or 2 years experience in lieu of certification.
  • BLS certification required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, inspect, troubleshoot and maintain anesthesia machines and monitors.
  • Assemble and restock supplies, emergency carts and assist with room setup and patient positioning.
  • Support anesthesia care team pre-, intra-, and post-procedure and assist with emergencies.
  • Maintain records demonstrating compliance with infection control and safety standards.
  • Train new staff and conduct in-service training on new equipment and procedures.

The role supports safe, efficient anesthesia delivery by anticipating clinician needs, responding in emergencies. They prepare, inspect, troubleshoot and maintain anesthesia machines, monitors, airway devices and related equipment; assemble and restock supplies, emergency carts and assists with room setup, patient positioning/transfer, and equipment changes during cases. Ensure that all equipment and supplies follow Infection Control and manufacturer safety standards.Additional Job Duties:Provides supplies and equipment to each anesthetizing location in proper working order.Prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot all types of anesthesia equipment (alarm systems, calibration and leak checking, medical gas cylinders, vaporizers, and ventilators).Assist anesthesia providers with equipment and supplies needed for patient care (general anesthesia, epidurals, blocks, hemodynamic monitoring, IV pumps) and emergency care (code blue, difficult airway, bronchospasm, malignant hyperthermia crisis, local anesthetic systemic toxicity), Sterile set-ups (arterial lines, central lines, adult/pediatric cardiovascular).Manage anesthesia carts medication inventory and restock anesthesia supplies.Perform point of use cleaning and handling of contaminated instruments (laryngoscope blades, intubation scopes, TEE probes.
