Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking an Anesthesia Support Specialist to assist anesthetists by maintaining and monitoring anesthesia equipment and managing supplies in a busy surgical department.

Responsibilities include preparing the surgery room, ensuring equipment readiness, and keeping the area clean and organized in accordance with AORN standards. A High School Diploma or GED is required along with minimal prior experience and specific certifications.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• 6 months’ experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or environmental services position.
• CNACC or CHEST certification

Responsibilities

• Assist the anesthetist by maintaining and monitoring anesthesia equipment and machines.
• Manage supplies, department cleaning and preparation of the surgery room per procedures.

Expected pay for this position is $17.66 - $19.63/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Anesthesia Support Specialist assists the anesthetist by performing various tasks, including the maintenance and monitoring of anesthesia equipment and machines, supply management, department cleaning, and preparation of the surgery room with equipment and supplies according to established procedures. Follows and understand the standards and recommended practices according to the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN). The Anesthesia Support Specialist assists in cleaning and preparing the surgery room and procedural room in addition to managing the care of the anesthesia equipment.

Licensure/ Certification:

• Certificate in Non-Acute Care Cleaning (CNACC) certification or Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) certification
