Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking an Anesthesia Aide to support the Anesthesiology team on a per diem, on-site basis in Boston, MA. The role involves set-up and maintenance of anesthesia equipment, patient prep assistance, and collaboration with Biomedical Engineering for preventative care.

The candidate will assist with room turnover, equipment readiness, and adherence to infection control standards, while supporting safety and efficiency in the operating suite.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while operating equipment and arranging instruments.
• Push/pull carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
• Work with potentially infectious patients and hazardous materials using Universal Precautions.
• Strong verbal and written communication with clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist anesthesia staff and organize time within the shift.
• Help deliver safe, efficient patient care during procedures.
• Prepare rooms and restock supplies; dispose of waste per protocol.
• Clean surfaces and equipment according to infection-control guidelines.
• Set up anesthesia machines, monitoring devices, and related equipment.
• Restock anesthesia carts and manage inventory checklist.
• End-of-day room prep and terminal cleaning.
• Ensure unopened supplies (laryngoscope blades, suction items) are available.
