Job summary

ABB E-mobility in Hasselt, Belgium, is seeking an Android/Kernel Software Developer – Experience Domain to build the on-device experience for our DC fast chargers. You will work hands-on in a collaborative, agile team, delivering scalable, high‑performance Android components, kernel integrations, and reliable OTA update workflows to support field deployments.

Responsibilities include Linux kernel integration, AOSP customization, device management agents, and background services.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent practical experience in engineering or CS.
• Strong Android expertise with C/C++ and Java; experience on customized AOSP platform.
• Familiar with Linux command line and Android tooling (adb, logcat).
• English required; Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Linux kernel integration with drivers, modules, and HAL for Linux/kernel integration.
• Develop and maintain device management agents for provisioning, security policies, and remote administration (MDM/EMM).
• Create and optimize background services, native daemons, and system processes for resources and IPC.
• Customize Android builds (AOSP), manage partitions, and handle OTA updates.
• Low-level debugging and optimization using adb, logcat, strace to diagnose panics and bottlenecks.
• Implement security hardening and SELinux policies for enterprise devices.
