Job summary

Speechify, a remote-first text-to-speech platform, is seeking a Team Lead to own core product work and raise how the team operates. This hands-on role involves writing code, reviewing code, and delivering features end-to-end, with a focus on reliability and scalable architecture.

You will unblock the team, guide engineers, and help shape development culture in a distributed setting. Strong communication and mentoring are essential as we continue to grow across multiple platforms and apps.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end, working closely with our design team — from the decision through to release. This is real delivery, not oversight
• Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Review pull requests and give constructive feedback
• Unblock the team: notice when someone has been stuck on the same thing for two days
• Notice when something built should become the version the team uses
• Keep shared pieces in working order — tested and clear for others to pick up
• Call it when the team is ready to change how it works
• Reduce manual intervention for correct releases
• When the same problem shows up twice, fix the underlying setup
• Shift verification left: automate what can be checked automatically
