Job summary

Bay College in Iron Mountain is seeking a temporary SI Leader for Anatomy & Physiology to support students in the Winter/Spring 2026 semester. The role involves attending lectures, planning and leading SI sessions, and coordinating with the course instructor and SI Manager.

Responsibilities include running weekly two-hour SI sessions, holding office hours, and helping students master the course material. Prior tutoring and strong biology background preferred; position runs ~8 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated competence (at least an A-) in BIOL 213, Anatomy & Physiology or a comparable course.
• Completed the equivalent of two years of college coursework.
• Strong foundation in biology, nursing, or related field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Tutoring experience.

Responsibilities

• Attend training prior to the start of the semester.
• Attend all scheduled class sessions.
• Plan for each SI session held.
• Hold one two-hour SI sessions each week.
• Hold three office hours each week to assist planning and provide services.
• Meet weekly with the instructor to ensure accuracy of SI material.
• Meet with the SI Manager weekly to assess effectiveness.
• Take notes and complete assignments for the course.
• Advertise SI to students.
• Take attendance and report weekly attendance.
• Utilize planning forms for organized SI sessions.
• Create a supportive learning environment during SI sessions.
• Teach study skills and collaborative learning techniques.
• Administer and record data for SI evaluation surveys.
• Mentor and advise students on supporting services.
