Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking an Anatomic Pathology Tech to join the Laboratory at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. You will verify specimens, log gross descriptions, and assist pathologists with intraoperative procedures in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.

The role requires an Associate degree or 60 semester hours in science with chemistry/biology coursework. Strong communication and precise attention to detail are essential for maintaining specimen integrity and quality

Qualifications

Associates Degree (Required)
At least 60 semester hours including 24 of medical laboratory technology or 24 hours of science with chemistry/biology courses
Excellent communication, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Verify specimen adequacy and proper labeling.
Record gross descriptions using medical terminology and appropriate sectioning procedures.
Use CoPath IS to accession specimens and enter patient data.
Troubleshoot and resolve daily workflow issues; communicate concerns to leads.
Assist pathologists in intraoperative procedures (frozen sections, touch preps).
Learn histology lab technical aspects and assist with processing workflows.
Train new staff and residents in department processes.
Maintain processing room equipment and ensure specimen integrity.
Collaborate with team to meet organizational standards and quality controls.
Observe Baystate Health standards of behavior in all duties.
