Job summary

Nemours Children's Health in Wilmington, Delaware, seeks an Anatomic Pathology Supervisor to oversee Anatomic Pathology/Histology/Digital Pathology workflows, including autopsy, gross analysis, and cytology/histology procedures.

You will supervise staff, ensure training, review test performance, maintain QC, participate in Quality Assessment, recruit and develop personnel, and coordinate scheduling to ensure uninterrupted service, while complying with regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in science-related field or Histotechnology (or equivalent) required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a supervisor or team lead.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Histotechnologist.
• Nationally/Internationally recognized certification as a Histotechnologist (ASCP) - Eligible. Must obtain within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Anatomic Pathology/Histology/Digital Pathology work processes, including autopsy, gross analysis and cytology/histology.
• Supervise staff, ensure training and completion of technical training checklists.
• Review daily test performance and initiate corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure procedures are written following regulatory guidelines.
• Establish and monitor section quality control procedures and maintain documentation.
• Participate in Quality Assessment and Improvement programs and implement changes.
• Participate in recruitment and hiring decisions for staff.
• Train, evaluate, and counsel section employees; ensure continuing education.
• Schedule staff to ensure coverage and minimize overtime; coordinate on-call coverage.
• Select and maintain technical equipment, justify capital expenditures and evaluate alternatives.
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements and readiness for inspections; participate in inspections.
• Function as histology technologist when needed, including frozen sections, staining, mounting and microscopic evaluation.
