Job summary

Protolabs is seeking a Principal Analytics Engineer to build trusted data foundations and power decision-making across the company. You’ll work at the intersection of business, analytics, and technology to translate complex data into scalable, governed data products.

You’ll partner with stakeholders across Analytics, Data Engineering, Architecture, AI, and Software teams. You will lead the migration from legacy DOMO reporting to Snowflake/dbt, ensure accurate business logic, and mentor peers

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, BI, or data warehousing.
• Significant experience partnering with business stakeholders to understand processes and metrics.
• Proven ability to design and maintain analytic data models across multiple domains.
• Expert-level SQL skills; ability to simplify and explain complex logic.
• Deep understanding of data modelling and data product development.
• Strong business acumen and curiosity; ability to map processes to data structures.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication; able to bridge technical and non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and ownership of enterprise analytics data models across domains.
• Drive migration of legacy DOMO logic to Snowflake/dbt data platform.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand processes, metrics, and workflows.
• Ensure data models are trusted, consistent, and aligned across the organization.
• Work with software teams and source system owners on data generation and maintenance.
• Translate complex requirements into scalable, documented data products.
• Mentor Analytics Engineers in SQL, modelling, and governance.
• Establish standards and best practices for data modelling and testing.
