Job summary

Heritage Vet Partners is seeking an Analytics Engineer to own the SQL layer of the data warehouse, defining curated reporting views and semantic models. You will transform raw data into trusted data products used across executives, finance, and operations.

You’ll collaborate with data engineers and analysts, apply AI-assisted tools to accelerate development, and ensure data quality and governance across reporting surfaces. This is an office-centric role with flexibility for remote work as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years working hands-on with SQL Server or Azure SQL in analytics, data warehousing, or reporting.
• Expert-level T-SQL: complex joins, window functions, CTEs, and correct data definitions.
• Experience with dimensional modeling and reporting-layer design (star schemas, conformed dims).
• MS BI stack knowledge: Analysis Services (tabular), Power BI semantic models, and relevant DAX.
• Comfort using AI-assisted development tools to draft, review, and debug SQL for production.
• Track record turning vague business questions into precise data definitions and ensuring data quality.
• Strong written communication read by engineers and executives.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain the reporting view layer of the data warehouse.
• Translate business definitions into durable SQL logic for metrics.
• Own the semantic model foundations in SSAS/Power BI for efficient reporting.
• Create validation checks and data reconciliation queries.
• Tune performance of the reporting layer; decide when views become indexed or tables materialize.
• Document reporting schema, metrics, and data lineage.
• Use AI coding assistants to accelerate development while owning correctness.
• Collaborate with data engineering, BI developers, and stakeholders.
