Job summary

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain dbt models within Snowflake.

You will transform curated data into reusable analytical datasets and business-ready data products, and build Gold-layer models for enterprise reporting and AI use cases. The role requires collaboration with business stakeholders to translate KPI definitions into governed metrics, and building datasets that support Power BI semantic models with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 4+ years in analytics engineering, BI, data warehousing, data engineering, or advanced analytics.
• 3+ years of advanced SQL development experience.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms.
• Experience with dimensional data modeling and data warehouse concepts.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Strong collaboration across technical and business teams.
• Proficient at advanced SQL development and analytical problem-solving.
• Knowledge of relational data structures, data transformation, and data warehousing concepts.
• Familiarity with dbt development, testing, documentation, dependency management, and deployment practices.
• Ability to document logic, lineage, and data dependencies clearly.
• Experience with data quality controls, source control, peer reviews, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain dbt models in Snowflake.
• Transform data into analytics-ready datasets and business-ready data products.
• Develop dimensional models including fact and dimension tables.
• Create Gold-layer models for enterprise reporting and AI use cases.
• Ensure models meet architecture, naming, SQL, and security standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define KPI calculations.
• Build datasets to support Power BI semantic models and trusted data sources.
• Document logic, lineage, and data dependencies for certifications.
• Implement automated dbt tests and validation checks.
• Monitor production data products and troubleshoot issues.
• Use GitHub for version control, code reviews, and controlled deployments.
• Contribute to CI/CD and reusable development patterns.
• Coordinate with Data Engineering on data availability and scalability.
• Participate in requirements discovery, design, testing, and release validation.
• Provide guidance on datasets, metrics, and data limitations.
• Assist with training on dbt models and data products.
