Job summary

National Trench Safety’s Data & Analytics team seeks an Analytics Engineer in a hybrid Houston, TX role. You will own the layer between raw data and finished reporting, blending SQL data modeling with Power BI semantic models to deliver accurate, well-documented data products for stakeholders.

You will partner with Finance, Operations, and other functions to support data pipelines, troubleshoot refresh issues, and evolve pipelines as business needs change.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
• 3+ years in a data-focused role with hands-on SQL work and model building.
• Experience translating business rules into data models and reports.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain SQL views, staging tables, and dimensional models in Azure SQL.
• Build and maintain Power BI semantic models, including relationships, DAX measures, and security roles.
• Monitor and troubleshoot Azure Data Factory pipelines and Power BI dataset refreshes.
• Make minor modifications to pipelines to support evolving business requirements.
• Partner with business SMEs to translate reporting requests into accurate data models.
• Write and maintain documentation for data models, metrics, and report logic.
• Contribute to team standards for naming conventions, DAX style, and semantic design.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and new tooling to enhance analytics.
