Job summary

Symetra's AI Enablement team is accelerating AI adoption by building shared platforms, tooling, and patterns for AI workflows. As an Analytics Engineer, you will help build the data platform powering our AI products, creating pipelines and storage for documents and other unstructured data used by our AI applications.

You will collaborate with engineers, build reliable data pipelines, and ensure data quality and documentation.

Qualifications

  • An early-career analytics or data engineer who builds clean, reliable pipelines and datasets.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills for data work.
  • Experience building data pipelines and integrating structured and unstructured data.

About the team

Symetra's AI Enablement team is a fast‑growing team of builders inside our Data Analytics organization.

Our goal is to accelerate AI adoption across the company by building shared platforms, tooling, and patterns that let other teams integrate AI into their workflows, and by shipping AI‑powered applications for the most important use cases.

About the role

As an Analytics Engineer, you will help build the data platform that powers our AI products, building pipelines and storage for the documents and other unstructured data that our AI applications use.

What you will do
  • Build and maintain the pipelines and datasets that feed our AI products.
  • Help store and serve the data our AI applications need, including documents and other unstructured data.
  • Solve data integration problems across structured and unstructured sources.
  • Keep our data clean, reliable, and well‑documented for the people and products that depend on it.
  • Work closely with software engineers, building our AI products and following engineering best practices.
Who You Are
  • An early‑career analytics or data engineer who builds clean, reliable pipelines and datasets.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills for data work.
  • Experience building data pipelines and integrating structured and unstructured data.
  • Comfortable with cloud data infrastructure.
  • Use AI coding agents effectively, with judgment to know when to use them and when not to.
Nice to Haves
  • Experience with documents and unstructured data (object storage, data lakes).
  • Preparing data for LLM‑powered applications (RAG, embeddings).
  • Orchestration with Dagster (or Airflow, Prefect, etc.).

Compensation

Salary Range: $96,700 – $161,200 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Remote Network Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum Internet Speed: 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload, in alignment with the FCC’s definition of “broadband.”
  • Internet Type: Fiber, Cable (e.g., Comcast, Spectrum), or DSL.
  • Not Permissible: Satellite, cellular broadband (hotspot or otherwise), any other wireless technology, or wired dial‑up.
