WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Coordinate activities for the shift team to ensure delivery of all key performance metrics including those in EHS, Quality, Finance, Productivity and People.
  • Lead efforts required to deliver quality and compliance performance for the shift. Initiate, manage, and make decisions which impact product quality.
  • Manage budget accountability for Headcount, Overtime, and direct expenses for a shift and/or line. Track, trend and continuously improve budgetary performance for direct expenses, headcount, overtime (OT), HPL, Scrap and Cost Improvement Projects (CIP).
  • ·Drive HPL and MSP (Master Schedule Performance) performance; understand drivers, and developing and executing plans around improvement of lab performance and quality metrics. Understand all key performance indicators, developing, driving and leading the execution of plans through utilization and involvement of all team and support resources
  • Drive a culture of engagement through the team and department. Directly supervises team and participates in staffing activities. Develop all line personnel by securing appropriate training, providing mentoring and assigning progressively challenging stretch responsibilities within the scope of the team and department accountabilities.
  • Assist in maintaining an operating budget for the Analytical and Incoming Material QA laboratories.
  • Provide product and manufacturing support for all manufacturing areas of the site.
  • Interface with Division personnel in the development of analytical and incoming guidelines and specifications.
  • Manage laboratory personnel, including staffing, performance reviews, and train and develop personnel, and maintain safe lab environment.
  • Assist in problem solving efforts related to laboratory issues.
  • Interface with Division and Corporate QA, Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, Regulatory Affairs and Purchasing to ensure timely completion of project activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to plant.
  • Assure lab test results reflect compliance to plant, division, and corporate guidelines and procedures.
  • Assure test methods are followed.
  • Attend plant MRB meetings to communicate and oversee analytical and incoming issues.
  • Assist in tracking RCE's for laboratory equipment and facilities
  • Provide direction and technical expertise to Analytical and Incoming Materials Laboratory personnel and to the plant.
  • Provide leadership during problem solving situations related to analytical and product issues.
  • Promote and Drive continuous improvement programs utilizing common problem solving tools and methodologies in processes and procedures within the shift/ operating line/ department for root cause analysis and resolution of issues.
  • Actively plan and organize the day to day laboratory operations and schedules.
  • Anticipate and drive proper alignment and prioritization between the lab and production teams.

Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS):

  • Model and promote the behaviors that support a continuously improving EHS culture by engaging with employees and other key stakeholders in ensuring all EHS requirements are met inclusive of internal and external regulatory objectives and direction. Coach and direct individuals in delivering EHS performance for themselves, their team and department.
  • Preparation and active participation in internal and external EHS audits and incident/accident investigation and reporting; coupled with timely implementation of corrective and preventative actions.

Quality:

  • Model and promote the behaviors that ensure delivery of high quality products for our customers while maintaining compliance with Abbott policies and procedures, meeting all local and statutory requirements, and adhering to the regulatory requirements of countries to which products are shipped.
  • Preparation and active participation in internal and external Quality audits and incident investigation and reporting; coupled with timely implementation of corrective and preventative actions.

Lead the operation of the Plant Analytical and Incoming Materials QA Laboratories, comprised of the following functions:

  • Raw material, in process, finished product testing, and equipment swabs (ELISA)
  • Methods and procedures are appropriately followed
  • CAPA activities are followed through to completion

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, food technology, technical or related
  • 2-4 years of experience in a laboratory in a regulated industry with preference being for food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, etc

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience working in a laboratory in a regulated manufacturing work environment with emphasis on infant formula manufacturing experience
  • Experience utilizing project planning and execution tools
