Job summary

Old World Industries is seeking a science-focused intern to support automotive performance fluid validation and analytical testing in our Northbrook, IL laboratories. You will assist with sample prep, data logging, and instrument operation under supervision, gaining hands-on experience in ICP, UV-Vis, HPLC, GC-MS, and QC workflows.

The role emphasizes safety, housekeeping, and teamwork, with mentorship from chemists and engineers to develop practical problem-solving skills relevant to R&D

Qualifications

• Majoring in a science field with interest in analytical chemistry.
• Completed at least one year of college chemistry and mathematics.
• Detail oriented with good time management and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Checking and restocking consumable lab supplies.
• Logging samples and updating materials database.
• Calibrating and maintaining equipment.
• Sample preparation and basic analysis (washing, measuring, filtering, pH).
• Setting up and running samples on instruments including ICP, UV-Vis, HPLC, IC & GC-MS.
• Sample data processing and results interpretation.
• Working directly with chemist and engineers who will train and supervise the student on all standard operating procedures.
• Other Duties as Assigned
