Job summary

Westlake Chemical in Houston, TX is seeking an IT Asset Inventory Specialist to manage physical inventory of computing infrastructure, receive IT hardware from vendors, track locations, and retire/dispose assets.

You will audit inventory across North America, maintain records, work with SAP/ServiceNow, and communicate with management. Minimum 5 years' experience required; strong written/verbal skills and collaboration essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in physical IT asset inventory management.
  • Experience with SAP ServiceNow and asset reporting is preferred.
  • Experience with desktop/server/network hardware is beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, record, deploy, monitor, audit, and dispose of company IT assets across North America.
  • Maintain inventory records and share with management and audits.
  • Maintain suitable inventory levels at multiple plants to meet demand.
  • Perform periodic audits and report discrepancies to management.
  • Investigate root causes of inventory discrepancies and propose improvements.
  • Use tracking software and devices to manage assets and provide timely communications to stakeholders.

Job description

SUMMARY

This role is to support the physical inventory of the organization's computing infrastructure through its lifecycle, acting as an initial contact for receiving IT hardware from the vendor and tracking its physical location while in use and ultimate retirement and disposal.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage company computing assets by receiving, recording, deploying, monitoring, auditing, and disposing of company IT assets throughout North America.
  • Maintain inventory records to share with management, Audit and other stakeholders in the business
  • Maintain suitable inventory levels at multiple plants to meet new hire and break fix demand.
  • Performing periodic audits on deployed assets and notifying management of any issues.
  • Investigate, perform root cause analysis and reporting discrepancies in inventory to management.
  • Make recommendations for improving inventory control. Work with appropriate individuals to make approved changes to the inventory process.
  • Use the software tools and devices provided for tracking assets.
  • Provide high-quality and timely communications to management using frequent verbal and written communications.
  • Devise alternatives when necessary in order to meet I.T.'s customer's business requirements.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Any additional responsibilities or tasks as necessary.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 5 years' experience performing physical inventory management.
  • Some college level course work is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Experience using inventory computer programs to update counts and compile reports, such as SAP, ServiceNow, and spreadsheets
  • Familiar with desktop, server, network and security hardware.
  • Self-starter, yet willing and able to take and execute direction when needed.
  • Works well in a team environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
