Job description

Overview

The Washington Commanders are seeking a dedicated and energetic technology professional to join the Technology Operations department as Analyst, Football Technology, a football-operations-facing technologist who handles much of the day-to-day technology at the practice facility and supports the football and game-day technology that coaches and football operations depend on. This is a unique, embedded role that sits close to football operations rather than in a back-office support queue.

Football work takes priority. When there is no football or event demand, the role works the IT Operations general support queue and broader IT work, so the person is a capable support generalist as well as a football specialist. The Analyst operates on the platforms that Network, Systems, and IT Security own and standardize. The role reports to the Manager, Football Technology.

This position spans football operations support, practice-facility technology, coaching video and meeting technology, sideline and game-day systems, and IT Operations support outside football demand.

The role splits time across three sites: the practice facility in Ashburn, Virginia, which is the primary base, and club facilities in Landover, Maryland and Riverdale, Maryland. Candidates should expect non-traditional hours across the football calendar. Standard support coverage runs Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with occasional after-hours, weekend, holiday, and game-day support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as an embedded technology partner to coaches, football operations, and player performance staff, learning their workflows and anticipating their needs.
  • Handle much of the day-to-day technology at the practice facility and act as the on-site technology point of contact for the football operation.
  • Support meeting-room and position-room AV, displays, coaching presentation tools, replay systems, and football-specific devices and endpoints.
  • Coordinate with IT Operations and stadium operations on facility technology and shared services.
  • Coordinate with game-day technology representatives and the club's IT Operations team on event execution.
  • When football and event demand is low, work the IT Operations general support queue within established standards.
  • Provide tier 1 and tier 2 support for hardware, software, account, access, and connectivity issues across Windows, macOS, and mobile devices, Microsoft 365, and meeting rooms.
  • Log, track, and resolve tickets in the service desk system to defined service levels, and escalat to the owning platform lane when needed.
  • Image, configure, and deploy laptops, desktops, and mobile devices, and support software provisioning.
  • Support user onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, access, and equipment, in coordination with HR.
  • Provide hands‑on guidance and training that helps coaches and non-technical users get the most from their devices and applications.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory: tag, track, and manage devices through their lifecycle from deployment to retirement.
  • Support cross‑lane deployments, moves, and floor support on projects, and act as a first responder during events alongside IT Operations.
  • Work within the security standards set by Network, Systems, and IT Security, safeguard confidential football and player information, and coordinate with Enterprise Applications on football data and integrations.
  • Enforce endpoint compliance by applying the device security, software, and user-restriction settings defined by IT Security.
  • Document setups, recurring issues, and fixes so support is repeatable, and join the cross‑lane event roster.
  • Work non‑traditional hours across the football calendar and travel with or in support of the team as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
  • One to three years of hands‑on technology support experience, ideally including football, athletics, or live‑event technology.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, macOS, iOS and iPadOS, mobile device management, and common AV and meeting technology.
  • General end‑user support skills beyond football tools: device setup and imaging, endpoint support, basic networking and Wi‑Fi, and service desk work.
  • Strong customer‑service instincts, composure under pressure, and clear communication with coaches and non-technical users.
  • Discretion and sound judgment handling confidential football and player information.
  • Willingness to work non‑traditional hours across the football calendar, including nights, early mornings, weekends, holidays, and game days, and to travel as assigned.
  • Available for standard support coverage Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with occasional after‑hours and weekend support as the calendar requires.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods in varying weather, climb stadium stairs, and lift and set up equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting a college or professional football program, an athletics department, or a sports, entertainment, or live‑event environment.
  • End‑user support or service desk experience, including ticketing, imaging, and device lifecycle, to support the general IT queue outside football demand.
  • Knowledge of NFL game‑day technology rules and league workflows, and relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+.
  • Experience with remote support tools and techniques.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration in a hybrid environment.
