Job summary

Horizon Media in New York City is seeking a Finance professional to support budgeting, forecasting and month-end close. The role emphasizes accuracy, cross-functional collaboration and proactive analysis across the accounting function.

You will partner with internal teams, automate standard reporting, assist during external audits, and contribute to variance analyses. A BA in Finance/Accounting and 1+ year experience, with strong Excel and US GAAP knowledge, are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ year accounting/finance experience, preferably with transaction support or corporate finance.
• Proficiency in Excel.

What You’ll Do

40% - Forecast & Analysis

• Support the annual budget and monthly projections.
• Assist in automating standard processes and reporting to reduce reporting burden and increase meaningful/value added analyses.

25% - Other

• Work closely with internal accounting team to provide support documentation and commentary for annual external audit requests.

25% - Month-end close responsibilities

• Work closely with internal accounting team during the close process to ensure proper accruals and deferrals.
• Assist in preparation of monthly variance analysis as it compares to actual vs. forecast.

10% - Perform ad-hoc analysis or special projects

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance / Accounting
• 1+ relevant years of accounting/finance experience, preferably with some experience in a transaction support or corporate finance role
• Proficiency in Excel is a must
• Knowledge of accounting fundamentals and US GAAP is a must
• Experience with Great Plains or similar G/L systems a plus
• Interest in the media industry is a strong plus, though prior experience is not a necessity

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

• CPA or equivalent highly favorable, but not required

Salary Range

$66,300.00 - $80,000.00

A successful applicant’s actual base salary may vary based on factors such as individual’s skill sets, experience, training, education, licensure/certifications, and qualifications for the role. As an organization, we take an aptitude and competency-based hiring approach.
