Role Description:

The purpose of a Clinical Informatics Analyst (Sr. Clinical Informatics Specialist or Sr. Medical Scribe) at Oak Street Health is to serve as a coach for medical scribes to help provide an exceptional patient experience and maximize provider efficiency.

The Clinical Informatics Analyst is a senior medical scribe who supports and coaches medical scribes in clinics. Scribes partner with physicians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants to support charting, billing, coding, and EMR navigation, aiming to enhance patient experience and provider efficiency. The analyst leads, coaches, and supports scribes regionally, collaborating with Practice Managers, Population Health Directors, Regional VPs, and Medical Directors. Deep knowledge of OSH’s business model aspects like risk scoring, clinical documentation, and scribe performance is expected.

Core Responsibilities:

Leadership & Coaching:

  • Partner with regional leadership for scribe hiring, onboarding, and training.
  • Support clinic initiatives ensuring scribes are trained and workflows support high-quality patient care, including EMR documentation hygiene, thorough charting, quality metrics, and addressing care gaps.
  • Follow CIS evaluation timelines, including shadowing, chart reviews, and gap assessments, reporting results to leadership.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for workflow and efficiency improvements, collaborating with leaders.
  • Organize quarterly regional scribe events for team building.
  • Master content areas such as coding, billing, EMR navigation, risk scoring, clinical guidelines, and scribe training.
  • Organize and deliver monthly training to the regional CIS team.
  • Attend training sessions organized by central leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal candidates will be (required):
  • Passionate about their work and motivated to grow with a fast-paced organization.
  • In good standing as a CIS or scribe.
  • Authorized to work in the US.
Ideal candidates will be (strongly preferred):
  • At least 8 months of CIS/scribe experience.
  • Leadership experience or natural leadership tendencies.
  • Experience with project management, including developing scopes, engaging stakeholders, tracking progress, and maintaining documentation.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and problem-solving.
  • Enthusiastic about improving CIS program efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and data warehouse experience.
Additional Details:

Weekly Hours: 40

Time Type: Full-time

Pay Range: $21.10 - $40.90 per hour

Pay varies based on experience, education, location, and other factors. Role may include bonuses, commissions, or incentives.
