Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking an accounting professional to support the timely close of the general ledger and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.

The role will be domiciled at a FedEx Freight location in Memphis, TN or Harrison, AR, with required presence at the location several times per week. Responsibilities include journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, lease/contract review, accruals, and variance analyses, while collaborating with partners to uphold internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related quantitative discipline (required).
• Two years of accounting experience in financial reporting (required).
• Strong analytical and financial analysis skills.
• Working knowledge of GAAP standards.
• Proficient in business software and spreadsheet applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and posts journal entries and reconciliations, maintains fixed assets, reviews leases/contracts, and oversees accruals and budget variance analyses.
• Researches and analyzes large elements of revenue and expense and related internal reporting.
• Ensures general ledger balances are accurate per GAAP and that internal control risks are tested and documented per Sarbanes-Oxley.
• Coordinates with business partners to provide guidance on accounting policies and procedures.
• Complies with laws, regulations, and company policies; performs other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely closing of the general ledger.

Essential Functions

• Prepares and post journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset processing, lease/contract review, accrual entries, and/or budget variance reviews
• Researches and analysis of assigned large elements of revenue and expense and the related internal reporting
• Ensures general ledger account balances are materially correct in compliance with internal controls and GAAP and that internal control risks are tested and documented in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley
• Coordinates and communicate with business partners providing guidance regarding accounting policies and procedures
• Complies with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or other related quantitative discipline is required. Related experience may offset degree requirements and related education/degree may offset experience requirements
• Two (2) years experience in accounting for financial reporting in a public accounting firm or in a large for-profit corporate environment.
• Strong analytical and financial analysis skills required.
• Working knowledge of GAAP standards required.
• Proficient in business software, spreadsheet applications and/or mainframe or web-based applications.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills.
