Job summary

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Ward Manager for the Acute Medical Unit. The role leads the ward, coordinates discharge planning, and drives quality and safety across clinical practice.

The successful candidate will provide professional leadership, oversee staffing and rosters, and work closely with MDTs to optimise patient flow and outcomes in a busy acute medicine environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Experience in acute medicine, acute assessment, or emergency care.
• Leadership experience in a clinical setting.
• Ability to manage 24-hour ward operations.
• Commitment to quality improvement and safe patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour clinical and operational leadership for the ward.
• Lead discharge planning and patient flow initiatives.
• Promote patient-centered care, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Manage resources and maintain budget adherence.
• Lead quality improvement, audits, and risk management.
• Support staff development and supervision.
