Job summary

Central Valley Meat Co. seeks an Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to maintain and service ammonia refrigeration systems and utility equipment at our Hanford facility.

You will ensure safe operation of plant utilities including boilers, air compressors, and HVAC, with an emphasis on preventive maintenance and safety compliance. The role requires RETA certification or equivalent training, strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, and the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

• RETA Certification or equivalent technical training is required.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical schematics and blueprints relevant to ammonia systems.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration and plant utilities (boilers, HVAC, pumps).
• Physically able to lift 70 lbs and perform in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to obtain Hazmat Responder Certification and participate in Hazmat Response Team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service ammonia refrigeration systems and plant utilities (boilers, air compressors, HVAC).
• Perform preventive maintenance on compressors, boilers, and related equipment.
• Document daily repairs and ensure PSM paperwork is complete and up to date.
• Communicate with maintenance management about production and equipment status.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety guidelines.
• Be available for weekend work or additional shifts as needed.
• Use PPE and follow all safety procedures.
