Job description

Primary Responsibility:

Works independently, performing advanced maintenance and repairs throughout the warehouse. Reviews inspection and repair reports and observes the progress of work on major overhauls to evaluate efficiency and work quality.

What You'll Do:

1. Performs repair and adjustments of refrigeration systems, doors, dock boards, pallet racks, sweepers, sprinkler systems, forklifts, pallet trucks, and electrical work in accordance with OSHA standards.
2. Inspects forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to ensure compliance with OSHA and operational standards.
3. Reviews inspection and repair reports, observes work progress on major overhauls, and evaluates work quality and efficiency.
4. Tests, maintains, and evaluates equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers, and pressure gauges. Calibrates HVAC equipment.
5. Inspects completed work for compliance with blueprints, specifications, and safety standards.
6. Troubleshoots equipment issues and recommends corrective actions.
7. Maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses tools and equipment carefully as instructed.
8. Maintains batteries and chargers in working order in accordance with OSHA standards.
9. Conducts tests of safety equipment (exit signs, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems) to ensure OSHA and operational standards are met.
10. Maintains accurate preventive maintenance records.
11. Adheres to attendance policies, arrives on time, and is prepared for assigned shifts.
12. Responds to after-hours callbacks as needed.
13. Keeps work area clean and performs housekeeping duties as required.
14. Performs related work and other job assignments as required.

What Experience and Education You Need:

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. RET courses preferred; candidates must certify in six courses within the first 18 months of employment.
3. Hazmat training preferred; candidates must obtain and maintain HAZMAT certification.
4. Certification to test sprinkler systems required if the facility has such systems.
5. Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM program.

What Could Set You Apart:

1. 8+ years of maintenance mechanic experience.
2. High mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills.
3. Ability to interpret instructions, sketches, and diagrams.
4. Flexibility to work shifts including overtime.
5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Knowledge of maintenance equipment, ISO, SAP, Microsoft programs, and forklift certification.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to work in environments with temperatures from -15°F to outside conditions.
2. Ability to access elevated platforms and heights up to 35 ft.
3. Physical ability to stand, walk, push, pull, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds.
4. Proficiency with hand and power tools, and good vision.
5. Availability to work nights and weekends, and pass physical and respiratory exams.
