Job description

Primary Responsibility:

Works independently, performing advanced maintenance and repairs throughout the warehouse. Reviews inspection and repair reports and observes work progress on major overhauls to evaluate efficiency and quality.

What You'll Do:

  1. Performs repair and adjustment of refrigeration systems, doors, dock boards, pallet racks, sweepers, sprinkler systems, forklifts, pallet trucks, and electrical work in accordance with OSHA standards.
  2. Inspects forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to ensure compliance with OSHA and operational standards.
  3. Reviews inspection and repair reports, observing work on major overhauls to assess efficiency and quality.
  4. Tests, maintains, and evaluates equipment performance using instruments like voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers, and pressure gauges. Calibrates HVAC equipment.
  5. Inspects completed work for compliance with blueprints, specifications, and safety standards.
  6. Troubleshoots equipment and recommends corrective actions.
  7. Maintains tools and machinery in good condition, using tools carefully as instructed.
  8. Maintains batteries and chargers per OSHA standards.
  9. Conducts safety equipment tests (exit signs, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems) to ensure OSHA and operational standards.
  10. Maintains accurate preventive maintenance records.
  11. Follows attendance policies, arriving on time and prepared for shifts.
  12. Responds to after-hours callbacks as needed.
  13. Keeps work area clean and performs housekeeping duties.
  14. Performs related work and other assignments as required.

What Experience and Education You Need:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. RET courses preferred; candidates must certify in six courses within 18 months.
  3. Hazmat training preferred; candidates must obtain and maintain certification.
  4. Certification to test sprinkler systems required if applicable.
  5. Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM program.

What Could Set You Apart:

  1. 8+ years maintenance mechanic experience.
  2. High mechanical proficiency.
  3. Ability to work with hands in mechanical tasks.
  4. Ability to follow instructions and interpret sketches and diagrams.
  5. Flexibility to work shifts and overtime.
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Knowledge of maintenance equipment, ISO, SAP, Microsoft, and forklift certification.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Tolerance for working in temperatures of -15°F indoors and outdoor conditions.
  2. Ability to access heights up to 35 ft., ladders, and stairs.
  3. Frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
  4. Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  5. Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  6. Good vision including close, distance, color, and depth perception.
  7. Availability for night shifts and weekends.
  8. Ability to pass physical and respiratory exams.
