Job summary

The Kraft Heinz Company in Mason City, IA is seeking an Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to operate and maintain plant utility systems, including boiler steam and refrigeration. The role requires handling ammonia refrigeration components, LOTO procedures, and CMMS familiarity in a 4x4 day/night cycle with weekends and holidays.

Competitive hourly pay in the $33.66–$36.23 range plus benefits such as medical, dental, vision, 401K, and relocation for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Experience operating boilers, refrigeration, compressed air, and wastewater systems.
• CFC Type I & II EPA certifications preferred.
• Ammonia Operator 1 Certification preferred.
• Electrical experience 240V and below.

Responsibilities

• Determine operational/mechanical failures in Utility areas, including boilers, wastewater, water systems, ammonia and freon refrigeration, and compressed air equipment.
• Replace components within the refrigeration system following safe LOTO procedures and the PSM program.
• Help maintain all plant utility systems and related equipment.
• Be familiar with CMMS systems and upkeep records.
• Assist in maintaining regulatory permits and compliance.

Role: Ammonia Refrigeration Technician

Location: Mason City, Iowa

Pay: $33.66 - $36.23 an hour.

Work Schedule:

4 x 4 rotating day to night schedule, including weekends and holidays.

6:15am – 6:30pm, 6:15pm – 6:30am

Work 4 days, 4 days off, work 4 nights, 4 days off, repeat.

Job Overview:

We’re seeking a skilled Utilities Support Technician to join our team in Mason City, IA, where you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of our production facility’s utility systems. The USMT is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining all plant stationary power equipment systems, including boiler steam generation, industrial refrigeration, compressed air, vacuum, wastewater treatment, and water supply systems.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Determine operational/mechanical failures in Utility areas, including boiler operations, waste water, water systems, ammonia and freon refrigeration, and compressed air equipment
• Replace components within the refrigeration system, with safe LOTO procedures and in accordance with PSM program.
• Responsible for helping with maintenance of all systems.
• Familiar with CMMS systems.
• Help plant maintain compliance with all permits.
• Responsible for maintaining all federal, state, and local regulatory compliance parameters as required. (i.e.: wastewater discharge permit, SPCC, SWPPP, air emissions, etc

Qualifications:

• Preferred: CFC Certification – Type I & Type II: (Minimum) as defined by EPA.
• Ammonia Operator 1 Certification preferred.
• Experience running boilers, refrigeration, compressed air, and/or waste water systems.
• Electrical experience, 240V and below.
