Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Refrigeration Boiler Technician for the 2nd shift at our Arnold, PA facility. The role focuses on installing, operating, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing ammonia-based refrigeration, HVAC rack systems, and boiler/hot water systems.

You will perform preventive maintenance, document activities, and uphold GMP, SOP, and PSM safety standards. Qualified candidates have 3–5 years of ammonia refrigeration experience, English literacy, and the ability to

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years ammonia-based refrigeration system operating experience and training preferred.
• Must read/write/speak English.
• Ability to read blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.
• Ability to write routine correspondence and preventive maintenance procedures.
• Ammonia refrigeration knowledge in theory and practice.
• May require long hours and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Operate, test, troubleshoot and repair ammonia-based refrigeration systems and subsystems.
• Operate rack-mounted gas refrigerant HVAC units; boiler and hot water systems and subsystems.
• Perform PMs on refrigeration, HVAC, boiler, and hot water systems.
• Maintain engine/utility room integrity per best practices; rebuild components per manuals.
• Document work orders, safety changes, and system notes; comply with GMP, SOP, PSM and safety rules.
