Job summary

AMI Flexible Machinist – 1st Shift, in a manufacturing setting, is responsible for operating multiple machines in the Punch Value Stream, setting up fixtures, and ensuring quality throughout the run.

  • Ability to edit programs and set up multiple styles of machines; understand G&M Codes.

Responsibilities

AMI Flexible Machinist - 1st Shift - PVS

JOB SUMMARY Responsible for the operation of multiple machines within the Punching Division's - Punch Value Stream - Flexible Machinist.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Inspect and set up machines manually or using small hand tools

  • Inspect and change fixtures as necessary

  • Place piece/part into fixture/machine

  • Set dials, switches and programs to begin process

  • Monitor machine and make preparations for next piece/part

  • Remove part from machine when done and inspect part for errors

  • Repeat above steps until job is finished, or on another machine

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Diploma or AAS degree in the machine trades

    • G/M Code, CAD/CAM, Machinist Math, GD&T, Inspection methods



  • Minimum of two years of relevant machining experience

  • Strong mechanical and technical abilities/experience

  • Demonstrated success using technical math skills such as Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry in practical applications

  • Ability to edit programs and set up multiple styles of machines, along with an understanding of G&M Codes

  • Be willing to freely move amongst all cell machines as workload demands

  • Be able to read technical data such as blueprints and routings

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately use advanced measuring tools

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft office, typing, 10 key, and internet navigation
