Job summary

AMI Metals, Inc. in Wichita, KS seeks a production associate to verify stock against work orders, set up and operate a metal saw, and inspect parts for quality. You will label remnants, stamp orders, and participate in maintaining safety and cleanliness on the shop floor.

The role requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds, familiarity with micrometers/calipers, and willingness to work irregular hours in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Language skills: ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Math: basic arithmetic.
• Reasoning ability: follow detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.
• Physical demands: capable of lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Certification: Forklift Certification preferred.
• Other abilities: ability to work irregular hours.

Responsibilities

• Verifies stock to work order requirements (alloy, temper, gauge, size, producer, lot no, and grain direction).
• Sets up saw.
• Cuts and verifies parts are within tolerances using micrometer and caliper.
• Labels and marks each remnant per AMI rem policy.
• Stamps work orders with quality inspection stamp as required by QC manual.
• Performs daily and weekly maintenance checks of metal saw.
• Coordinates pick up of scrap metal containers.
• Operates forklift and overhead crane as required.
• Performs in-process and final inspection of parts.
• May perform additional duties in smaller facilities and may lift up to 50 pounds.

Job Function

• Verifies stock to work order requirements (alloy, temper, gauge, size, producer, lot no, and grain direction)
• Sets up saw
• Cuts and verifies parts are within customer required tolerances using micrometer and caliper instruments
• Marks each part with customer required identification
• Labels and marks each remnant per AMI rem policy
• Stamps work orders with quality issued inspection stamp as required by Q.C. manual
• Performs daily maintenance checks of metal saw and completes check list
• Performs weekly maintenance per schedule
• Performs daily housekeeping of work area
• Coordinates pick up of scrap metal containers
• Adheres to safety policies and procedures
• Operated forklift and overhead crane, as required
• Performs in process and final inspection of parts
• Participate in TQM and SPC meetings as required
• In smaller facilities, may perform additional duties such as physical receiving and packing
• May require lifting up to 50 pounds at a time

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
