The AmeriCorps STEM Specialist will spend about 12-16 hours each week assisting with hands-on, informal STEM education of the Boys & Girls Club. The schedule is approximately Monday through Friday from 2:45-6 PM from mid August 2026 to end of May 2027.
The individual selected for this position will serve as an AmeriCorps member. AmeriCorps is a national service opportunity, not just a regular job. This is a wonderful opportunity to add service and hands-on teaching experience to your resume! This is an especially terrific opportunity for someone who is pursuing an education or STEM-related career. AmeriCorps members sign an agreement to complete a term of service. You will be expected to complete a minimum of 450 service hours throughout your term.
This position will provide a living allowance of $7,200 paid over each term of service. The stipend will be split up and paid on a bi-weekly basis (every other week) basis during your term of service. NOTE: You will not be paid hourly.
In addition, an Education Award of $1,956.35 will be awarded upon successful completion. The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award is a post-service benefit received by individuals who complete terms of national service in approved AmeriCorps programs. This award (similar to a Pell Grant) can be used to repay qualified student loans and to pay current educational expenses at eligible institutions.
