Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County is seeking an AmeriCorps STEM Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves working part-time, approximately 12-16 hours weekly, delivering STEM education to youth at the Club.

Job description

Mountain Trails is hiring 1 AmeriCorps STEM Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year. The role will work approximately 12-16 hours per week assisting with hands‑on, informal STEM education at the Boys & Girls Club.

Schedule

The AmeriCorps STEM Specialist will work Monday through Thursday from 2‑6 PM, from mid‑August 2026 to the end of May 2027.

Program Details

• Minimum of 300 service hours required over two terms (August–December 2026 and January–May 2027).
• Living allowance of $4,800 per term, paid bi‑weekly.
• Education award of $1,565.08 upon successful completion.

NOTE: You will not be paid hourly.

Key Responsibilities

Provide STEM education:

• Lead STEM lessons during the time allocated each week.
• Maintain records of lesson plans and track data for the number of students served.
• Complete weekly timesheets and a monthly report.
• Evaluate progress of youth served using surveys & rubrics.

Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:

• Build positive relationships with youth, families, school staff, and teammates.
• Promote and stimulate program participation.
• Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
• Encourage members to participate in a variety of program areas and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills.
• Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety, and development of members.

Program Development and Implementation:

• Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for all members and visitors.
• Monitor and evaluate program services and activities.
• Oversee member safety, program quality, and appearance of the organization at all times.

Supervision:

• Supervise and ensure safety during indoor and outdoor activities (rain or shine).
• Participate in weekly organization staff meetings.

Additional Responsibilities:

• May participate in special programs and/or events.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings and all grant‑required training.

Skills & Knowledge Required

• 18 + years of age.
• United States citizen or legal permanent resident.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Meet the requirements set by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
• Experience in working with children.
• Knowledge of youth development.
• Motivated to work with youth and manage behavior problems.
• Ability to work with the school and general public.
• Plan and implement quality programs for youth.
• Organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
• CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.
• Valid State Driver’s License.
• Preference will be given to individuals with educational or work experience related to science, technology, engineering, math, teaching, and/or education.
