Job summary

CFA Institute is seeking a Senior Manager, Society Relations for the Americas region. You will act as the lead relationship manager for large, complex societies, guiding governance, business planning, and member value while aligning with CFA Institute strategy.

You will travel about 15–20% and collaborate with multiple internal teams to ensure effective support and execution. This senior IC role requires 8–10 years in association management or related fields, with strong stakeholder advisory

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• 8–10 years in association management or related fields.
• Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships and advising senior volunteers, boards, or executives.
• Experience consulting on governance, strategy, business planning, or member engagement.
• Strong judgment on governance, financial, or reputational issues with real examples.
• Resilience and positivity to turn sceptical stakeholders into supporters.
• Strong strategic and analytical thinking with executive-ready recommendations.
• Ability to influence across functions in a global matrixed organization.
• Spanish fluency preferred; CAE designation or governance credentials preferred.
• Investment Foundations Certificate or willingness to complete it after joining; ability to travel freely.

Responsibilities

• Lead relationships for an assigned portfolio of Americas societies, including larger, complex, or high-risk entities.
• Build trusted relationships with boards, executive directors, staff and volunteer leaders.
• Provide advanced consultation on governance, strategy, planning, and member engagement.
• Align local priorities with CFA Institute strategy and service standards.
• Review business plans, year-end reports, funding requests, and performance data for risk and impact.
• Escalate significant governance or reputational risks with analysis and next steps.
• Design projects and funding proposals; track initiatives and their impact.
• Serve as expert and escalation point; share practices and support onboarding.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver society support.
• Periodically lead planning engagements for societies outside your portfolio.
• Travel approximately 15–20% of the time.
