Job summary

Sokin is seeking a highly capable Financial Controller to lead the Americas finance operations from New York. The candidate will manage month-end close, consolidate financials, and maintain robust internal controls across multiple jurisdictions in a fast-growing, global environment.

Responsibilities include supervising local finance staff, coordinating with shared services, and ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and US GAAP. Strong ERP experience (NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years post-qualification experience in finance roles.
• Background in business services, audit, or corporate accounting.
• Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, statutory reporting, and control frameworks.
• Experience with consolidated accounts and management reporting.
• ERP experience with NetSuite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee regional finance operations across the Americas, including supervision of local finance personnel and coordination of accounting, reporting, and control activities.
• Review journal entries with bookkeeping team and shared services to ensure accuracy and timeliness as transaction volumes grow.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals, prepayments, intercompany balances, and fixed assets; strengthen reconciliations."
• Support month-end and year-end close; help shorten the close as reporting demands increase.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and assist with statutory financial statements under UK GAAP and US GAAP.
• Support regulatory financial reporting including state-by-state tax reporting and compliance across the Americas.
• Assist with tax accounting, intercompany accounting, and transfer pricing; maintain documentation.
• Collaborate with auditors to prepare schedules and respond to queries while improving controls.
