Position Details

• Position: American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher
• Work Schedule: Part-time, 186 duty days
• Start Date: August 25, 2025 (New teacher professional development from August 11-13)
• Pay: According to teacher labor agreement

Qualifications

• Current MN teaching license
• Fluency in ASL
• Skills in culturally responsive teaching, effective communication, learning strategies, active listening, and social perceptiveness
• Knowledge of instructional methods, curriculum design, English language structure, human behavior, and mathematics

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with staff on curriculum design and assessment
2. Develop and implement instructional objectives and activities
3. Conduct classroom instruction and individual tutoring based on lesson plans
4. Assess student performance and adapt teaching methods accordingly
5. Evaluate student abilities and assist with educational and personal planning
6. Report on student progress and diagnose student strengths and weaknesses
7. Respond to student needs, provide guidance, and serve as student advocate and liaison
8. Build credibility with staff, students, parents, and community through professional competency
9. Engage in public relations activities and in-service training
