Job summary

Northfield Hospital & Clinics is seeking an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to provide interpretation across patient care settings. This casual/call role supports the Interpreter Services team in Northfield, MN, bridging communication between deaf patients and healthcare staff.

The position requires ASL/English proficiency, RID NIC or CDI certification, and at least six months of healthcare interpreting experience. Shift differential, ESST, and retirement benefits are available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Proficiency in ASL and English, with the ability to interpret accurately between Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing patients and hearing individuals.
• Completion of an ASL/English Interpreter training program or equivalent education and experience.
• Current RID NIC or CDI certification required.
• Six months work experience as an ASL interpreter; healthcare interpreting experience preferred.

Summary

Provides American Sign Language interpreting services for all settings of the organization, bridging communication between healthcare staff and the deaf community.

Compensation

We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, educationand internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is $32.45–$45.81. This range reflects the base payfor this position.

Key Accountabilities

• Serve as an interpreter between Northfield Hospital +Clinics personnel and deaf or hard-of-hearing patients and families to facilitate access to care.
• Interpreting may be needed at any of our surrounding Clinic sites, as well as at the Hospital in Northfield.

Schedule

• This position will be contacted as interpreter needs arise for patients requiring American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, typically with at leastone day’s notice.
• Hours will vary from week to week, averagingup to 10 hours per week.
• Additional hours may be available duringevenings and weekends, sometimes with short notice.
• Candidates interested in additional hours should be able toarrive within 30 minutes when contacted.

Qualifications

High SchoolDiploma or G.E.D.

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English, with the ability to interpret accurately between Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing patients and hearing individuals.

Completion of anASL/English Interpreter training programor equivalent education and experience.

Current Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) National Interpreter Certification (NIC) or Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) certification required.

Six months work experience as an ASL interpreter; healthcare interpreting experience preferred

Eligible for Shift Differential Pay in addition to base wage

Earned Safe and Sick Time (ESST)accrued on first paycheck
