Mercy Express Driver Role: Provides curb-to-curb vehicle transport of clients between locations, assisting with transportation within SRHP facilities for appointments efficiently, safely, and timely.

Summary:

Ambulette attendant is responsible for the direct movement and transportation of wheelchair clients between locations. Operates an ambulette vehicle safely and efficiently, including wheelchair lifts and manual pushing of wheelchairs into and out of the vehicle.

  1. Transport clients by wheelchair to and from appointments and hospital discharge.
  2. Maintain proper reports and records.
  3. Provide safe, proper, and efficient transportation and care for clients.
  4. Care for vehicle and equipment.
  5. Serve as a patient advocate.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.
  7. Practice Mercy Core Values.
  8. Participate in required/mandatory trainings.
  9. Maintain confidentiality and support patient and family rights.
Minimum Education and Certifications:
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Required Licensure: Valid Driver’s License.
  • Preferred Certifications: AHA Healthcare Provider BLS (within 30 days of hire), First Aid Training (within 30 days), IS 100, IS 700, DRIVE Training (within 60 days).
Experience and Skills:
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) within 1 year of hire.
  • Required: IS 100 and IS 700 within 6 months.
