Job summary

Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, VT is seeking a Registered Nurse for Ambulatory Surgery. This full-time position offers 80 hours bi-weekly with 12, 10, or 8 hour shifts and on-site work.

The RN provides safe nursing care on the unit with independence and may serve as charge nurse. Requirements include VT RN license (or Compact State RN), ACLS/PALS if trained to phase 1, BLS for all Ambulatory RNs, and IV certification. Perioperative/critical care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or enrolled in an accredited Direct Entry to Master of Science in Nursing Program with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Vermont (VT RN license or Compact State RN)
• Experience: Perioperative and critical care experience preferred.
• Certifications Required: ACLS and PALS required if trained to phase 1 (PACU). BLS required for all Ambulatory RNs. IV certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe nursing care in a timely manner to patients on the assigned unit with a high degree of independence.
• Functions regularly as charge nurse when needed and reports to the Director Surgical Services.
• Assists with perioperative care, following unit-specific competencies and standards.
• Maintains accurate clinical documentation and order entry, protecting patient confidentiality.
• Demonstrates leadership, communication, and teamwork within a multi-disciplinary care team.
